Surakarta, March 19, 2025 – The Master’s Program in Linguistics at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, successfully held a Curriculum Reconstruction Workshop on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The event took place in Meeting Room 1 of FIB UNS and was attended by lecturers, students, alumni, and relevant stakeholders.

The workshop featured a highly competent speaker, Prof. Dr. Agus Subiyanto, M.A., who is the Head of the Master’s Program in Linguistics at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) Semarang. In his presentation, Prof. Agus delivered material titled “Curriculum Reconstruction for Master’s Linguistics Programs in Accordance with Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023.”

Prof. Agus emphasized the importance of aligning higher education curricula with the latest regulations, especially Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023, which focuses on strengthening graduate competencies and ensuring curriculum relevance to workforce needs and scientific developments. “Curriculum reconstruction is not just an administrative change; it is also an effort to ensure that master’s linguistics graduates can compete in the global era. Therefore, every study program must implement this regulation by August 2025 at the latest,” he stated.

The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs of FIB, Dr. Miftah Nugroho, M.Hum., who, in his welcoming remarks, expressed appreciation for the workshop. “Curriculum reconstruction is a strategic step to enhance education quality and address contemporary challenges. I hope this activity will produce innovative and applicable curriculum formulations,” he said.

In addition to the presentation, the workshop also included the submission of the Draft Curriculum Document for the UNS FIB Master’s Program in Linguistics, as well as an interactive discussion and Q&A session. Participants, comprising lecturers, students, alumni, and representatives from partner institutions, enthusiastically provided input and asked questions regarding the implementation of the new curriculum.

The Head of the UNS FIB Master’s Program in Linguistics, Dr. Arifuddin, Lc., M.A., stated that the workshop’s results would serve as a reference for developing a more adaptive and stakeholder-oriented Curriculum Document for the program. “This curriculum document is expected to be an effective guide for all academic staff of the Master’s in Linguistics Program in achieving high-quality and integrated educational goals,” he affirmed.

The event concluded with a session for suggestions and feedback from participants. It is hoped that this curriculum reconstruction will strengthen the position of the UNS FIB Master’s Program in Linguistics as a leading study program at both national and international levels.
